Bradley Cooper!

Comments: Confession time. I used to dislike Bradley Cooper a great deal because I hated his character on "Alias." Then I saw "Silver Linings Playbook" and finally saw in him what so many others had seen, and boom, huge fan. I wrote him, not expecting a response because, hey, he's an A-lister right now, and he actually responded! It seems authentic? Either way, it's a pretty cool success! Thank you, Bradley!

Pretty Little Liars success!

Comments: I remember Ashley from her days playing Abby on "Days of Our Lives," but now that she's on primetime, I wanted to update my autograph of her. I sent her a picture, which she returned signed along with this publicity photo. She seems very considerate of her fans, and I really like that she's into animal welfare causes. Really glad to have this for my collection!

Comments: Personally, I like Clara as the most current companion, so I wrote her as soon as I first saw her on the show. I wasn't sure I'd get a response, and while she didn't sign either of the 8x10s I mailed to her, she did return them, along with this cool Doctor Who postcard, which she personalized a signature on. This is my only success from the current cast, and it's awesome! Thanks Jenna-Louise!

Elvira Mistress of the Dark

Elvira Mistress of the Dark
Received: May 10, 2014

Comments: I've been a fan of Elvira's since I was a teen and first discovered her hilarious show skewering bad movies. She was at DragonCon a few years ago but I didn't have enough cash to get her autograph. Took me a while, but I recently visited her website www.elvira.com and followed the instructions on getting an autograph.

RIP Shirley Temple

Shirley Temple-Black
Received: Many years ago through the mail

Comments: I wish I could express how profoundly sad I was today to hear the news of Shirley Temple's passing. I watched her movies over and over as a youth; they helped bring some joy to me during a dark period of my life - but that's what Shirley did. I wrote her a letter in the late 90s, I think, and got this response from her, back before she stopped signing through the mail. I've always said this is one of my most treasured autographs. Now, it means even more. RIP, Shirley. You will be missed.

Doctor Who - Arthur Darvill

Arthur Darvill
Sent: 4/24/12
Received: 12/23/12
Address used: no longer valid (Broadway's "Once" venue)

Comments: I absolutely adored Rory on Doctor Who, and I thought I'd try to get his signature via venue when he was on Broadway. He's since left the show, and I guess he must have waited until his exit to respond to his fanmail. I'm so grateful to have gotten this for my collection!

Comments: I got Donna Noble's sig! I know Donna isn't everyone's favorite companion, but she really grew on me and I enjoyed her turn on the show. She's the third companion sig I have for my Doctor Who collection. If I can get Rose, I will have all of the Tenth Doctor's regular female companions. How awesome would that be?

First 'Nikita' success

Maggie Q
Sent: 9/8/13
Received: 12/12/13
Address used: "Nikita" set address, no longer valid

Comments: I love "Nikita" on the CW and am sad to see its final season begin. I sent to some of my favorite cast members and got Maggie's back. I adore her for the work she does with animal rescue, so I'm very happy to have this one for my collection. She'd a great actress, and I can't wait to see her in "Divergent." Very happy to have Nikita herself if I get no one else.

Dragoncon 2013 in-person autographs

John Barrowman
Where: Dragoncon, Aug. 30, 2013

Comments: Wow, this man's autograph line was craaazy long, but yes, I stayed in it to get Capt. Jack's signature. I loved him on "Doctor Who" and "Torchwood," but I had no idea how awesome Barrowman actually was until meeting him and attending his panels. I even paid to get a picture with him, and that was an experience! This will go great in my "Doctor Who" collection!

Eve Myles
Where: Dragoncon, Aug. 30, 2013

Comments: I had no idea Eve was so funny until I went to the "Torchwood" panel. She was great to listen to, and as "Doctor Who" alumni, she was on my list to get her autograph (being poor, it was a small list!). She was so polite to meet. In the panel, she had mentioned being a Wonder Woman fan, so I told her I was too and we had a moment or two of bonding over that. Really glad to have gotten her autograph for my collection!

Allison Mack
Where: Dragoncon, Aug. 31, 2013

Comments: I received Allison's signature through the mail, but Chloe Sullivan from "Smallville" is one of my all-time favorite characters, ever, so I had to meet Allison and thank her for her portrayal. What an amazing woman she is, too. She's not currently working on anything because playing Chloe taught her to be picky about the roles she plays, but she told me to stay tuned. This is one of my favorite autographs and will go great in my Superman collection.

Comments: I'm a relatively new Whovian, having only discovered the show on Netflix this year. I loved, loved, loved the David Tennant years, and I've been trying to collect the main cast's signatures from all the new seasons. This week, I got Martha Jones!  I sense from comments online she's not the most popular companion, but I enjoyed her time on both "Doctor Who" and "Torchwood." Very happy to have this for my collection.

In-person: Chris Sarandon

Chris Sarandon
In-person at Monstercon 2013

Comments: Confession time. When I was young (like, 8, 9, 10), my brothers would sneak me into horror movies with them. I don't think they expected my 10-year-old self to like "Fright Night" as much as I did. I begged them to take me to see it again and again, and I'm pretty sure I saw it at least 4 times in the theater. I've seen it at least 50 times since on video, so when I saw that Chris Sarandon was going to be a guest at a convention in my home state, I was there! Mr. Sarandon was very nice. Honestly, I wanted signed pictures from him from "Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Princess Bride" too, but I had to get a "Fright Night" pic signed. Very cool to finally get to meet Jerry Dandridge in person.

Holy cow! I got Henry Cavill!

Address used:
Henry Cavill

Comments: I've been a fan of Henry Cavill for a while now, but my admiration of him has grown tenfold in the past few months and especially since I saw "Man of Steel." I'm convinced he's the most handsome man alive, or at least that I've ever seen. Physically, he inspired the character in my new novel, so, yes, I'm quite a fan! I didn't think I'd actually get this back after "Man of Steel" has been such a success for him. I'm suspicious that the inscription is authentic, but the signature appears to be. Either way, I'll take it. I'm thrilled to have this in my Superman collection. I might try again with a "Man of Steel" photo. So happy to have this!

Bela Lugosi Jr.

Bela Lugosi Jr.
Received: 5/31/2013

Comments: This is currently one of my most treasured autographs. I emailed the family of Bela Lugosi a very heartfelt and sincere note through the official website, letting them know how much I appreciated Mr. Lugosi's legacy in film and explaining how I discovered his movies and what they mean to me. "Dracula" from 1931 is one of my all-time favorite movies. I received a very kind reply from his granddaughter, Lynn Sparks, who also very kindly sent me this photo, signed by Bela Lugosi Jr. I am very grateful to have it for my collection.

Received: Photo back signed on 5/17/13

Address used:

Rome, GA 30161-3232
USA

Comments: I'm working on my Walking Dead collection, and I'm so glad I have the actor who plays Carl's autograph. He's really grown as an actor and character on the show. Can't wait for season 4! This will be great to add after my autographs from Rick and Lori!

Hunger Games collection: I've got Finnick!

Sam Claflin
Sent: 2 photos, SASE, $3 for postage on 3/22/13
Received: 2 photos signed and a typed letter 5/17/13

Address used:
Independent Talent Group Ltd.

Comments: Finnick is one of my favorite characters in The Hunger Games series, third only to Katniss and Peeta.  I was worried about his casting for the movie's sequel, but I think Sam can do the role justice. Or I hope so, anyway! I figured I'd better try for his signature before the movie came out in case he becomes uber popular afterward. Very happy to have received this.

First True Blood Success - Alexander Skarsgard!

Address used:

Comments:  I've met Joe Manganiello (Alcide) twice at Dragoncon, but I've never had any luck getting any autographs from the True Blood cast by mail. I'm overjoyed my first is Alexander Skarsgard because Eric is my favorite character. I've tried before to get his at this address, but never received a reply. I decided to try again, and I'm so glad I did! I love this success, even if I have no idea what the inscription says!

Address used:

Comments: I sent this off almost a year ago when I began trying to collect The Walking Dead autographs. I got it back in February, nearly 12 months later, but am glad to have this for my collection, especially since Lori was such an important character on the show the first two seasons. This makes the third TWD autograph I've managed to get.

Received: 4/22/13
Address used:
Andrew Lincoln
Markham,Fraggatt &1irwin

Comments: The Walking Dead has become one of my favorite shows, so I started collecting through the mail last year.  I love Rick, so I decided to try Andrew again through his London agency. I got it back remarkably fast, and he included a post-it note stating that he'd signed it on April 15 (my birthday). The inscription on the picture I sent him is either very cool or very creepy, depending on how you look at it.

Vampire Diaries successes - DragonCon 2012 (sort of)

Ian Somerhaulder

Comments: Ian is one of the celebrities I most wanted to see at DragonCon 2012, but I have to admit, I was not thrilled with the handling of his photo opps and autograph sessions by Celebrity Authentics. I did get a photo taken with Ian, but he was very late to his photo opp session and then the organizers rushed us each through his line in a not-so-friendly way. Ian himself was very nice for the minute and a half I got to talk to and pose with him. Unfortunately, I had been given the wrong schedule for the day when I picked up my tickets and missed his autograph session even though I'd forked out money for a ticket. Very long story short, I finally got this autograph through the mail from Celebrity Authentics, thankfully, after assuming I was out the money I had paid for his autograph session. They had told me it wouldn't be personalized if I got one, but this one is, so I'm grateful for that at least. I'm a HUGE fan of Ian's, but I have to admit, my DragonCon experience with him left a lot to be desired. I'm glad I got my picture with him though. He's just as hot in person as he is on TV!

Steven R. McQueen

Comments: Steven is the only other person from The Vampire Diaries of whom I pre-ordered an autograph ticket for at DragonCon, and unfortunately, he had to cancel his appearance due to filming the show. I was given the option to have his autograph mailed to me, and since I adore him (he is the grandson of the amazing classic film actor Steve McQueen after all), I didn't ask for a refund. This autograph arrived in the mail a week after DragonCon, and I didn't have to badger Celebrity Authentics to get it.
